In the words of the immortal Grateful Dead, what a long, strange trip it's been. I've been up to many things these past few months, which have put a dent in my Medium writing. The first thing was a massive move, which I plan to write about for Medium when the time is right. We downsized from a 2800 square foot home, to a 32 foot long RV. I am loving it, but more on that in the near future.
The second thing is that NaNoWriMo happened. And I managed to write a novel in 30 days for the second time in my life. This is my third full-length manuscript and I even managed to finish a few days early. It's a hot piece of garbage at present, but I'm kind of proud of it. Which brings me to the third thing.
Editing. Man, have I been editing. I realize that my biggest struggle is with POV and showing not telling. (Isn't that always the case?) I ran across this quote today to help keep me motivated as I slog through my edits.
I'm also undertaking the project of adapting my NaNoWriMo novel "More Than Words" into a screenplay as a goal for 2021. I plan to dive into this once the edits are complete. I realize as I edit this book that it will likely be a novella rather than a novel. And I'm ok with that. I'm normally a short form writer and I don't want to push myself to write something longer than what feels right to me. I am hoping this will be the first in a three-part novella series. I plan to post chapter one here in the near future.
Thank you to all who have stuck with me this year, discovered by work on Medium and to those who may have an interest in the fiction pieces I write. Here's to a great year ahead for writers and reader alike.
